I’m Amanda Ellis, a legal recruiter and founder of Thrive Legal Search. No matter where you are in the hiring process—whether you’re an attorney considering a move or a law firm trying to make the right hire—I’ve been where you are.

I’ve made many of the career moves attorneys consider:

  • Left a job for a higher salary
  • Accepted a counteroffer (and, like most, left soon after)
  • Relocated out of state for an associate role (and, took a second bar exam)
  • Returned to a previous employer in a different role (a boomerang hire)

As an employer, I’ve engaged recruiters to build teams. I’ve felt the impact of resignations, and I’ve seen how waiting too long to hire can cost revenue and affect morale.

These experiences give me a well-rounded perspective on legal hiring.

AMANDA ELLIS

Amanda Ellis has worked in the legal recruiting industry since 2006, and her experience includes (1) placing hundreds of attorneys in their dream jobs; (2) launching an attorney recruiting division for the nation’s largest legal staffing company and growing that division to almost 100 recruiters, resulting in over 3,000 attorney placements nationwide; and (3) writing and publishing a book, The 6Ps of the BIG 3 for Job-Seeking JDs, that teaches lawyers how to get hired using social media.

In 2020, Amanda launched ACE Legal Search, which is now Thrive Legal Search. Prior to founding Thrive Legal Search, Amanda served as Senior Vice President for The Adecco Group’s U.S. legal recruiting brands (known as Special Counsel and Parker and Lynch Legal at that time and known as LHH Recruitment Solutions today).

Prior to entering the legal recruiting field, Amanda practiced commercial bankruptcy law in Massachusetts (at Mirick) and Texas (at Hance Scarborough Wright Ginsberg & Brusilow).

Originally from Northeast Texas (Atlanta, TX), Amanda has lived in Dallas since 2005. Amanda earned a law degree from The University of Texas School of Law and B.S. in Business, summa cum laude, from Centenary College of Louisiana.
