December 11, 2025Lateral Attorney Conflicts Check: A Template
September 22, 2026I’ve received a lot of AI-generated resumes this year. While those formats may work for some jobs, law firms remain traditional employers—and, a traditional resume is still your best bet when applying to a law firm.
What do I mean by traditional? A familiar font like Times New Roman. Clearly organized sections such as Education, Legal Experience, Admissions, and Interests. A simple, single-column layout without colors or graphics. And no objective section filled with flowery buzzwords.
I’ve put together two simple, editable Word templates to help you get started:
Junior attorneys: 0–3 years of experience
This template places Education before Legal Experience.
Experienced attorneys: More than 3 years of experience
This template places Legal Experience before Education.
Replace the prompts with your own information, customize the descriptions to reflect your experience, and delete any optional sections or notes that don’t apply.
